Education Assistants play an active and essential role in supporting students in the classroom, around the school, and within the community. Education Assistants provide assistance in behaviour management, modification of assignments and activities, social skills development, personal care, and physical assistance.  They perform these duties by utilizing key skills and techniques that promote positive behaviour and allow students to meet their individual education plans.  

Required Qualifications: 

  • Grade 12
  • Successful completion of a recognized program in special needs assistance or an equivalent combination of training and/or experience is required.

What the District offers: 

  • Hours of work can vary between 8:30am to 3:30pm 
  • This position pays $35.11 per hour plus 4% vacation pay
  • Casual staff are eligible for employment standards sick days (ESA)
  • Casual staff in temporary positions are eligible for holiday pay, sick days (17 days for full year entitlement) dental and extended health benefits.
  • Regular positions are eligible for holiday pay, sick days (17 days for full year entitlement) dental and extended health benefits, gratuity pay/leave, life insurance, long-term disability, and pension.
