Crossing Guards are responsible for providing support to students arriving/departing from school. They have the ability to build successful relationships, influence behaviours, and avert or resolve conflict thanks to their experience either raising or working with children.
Required Qualifications:
- Grade 12 education
- Demonstrated ability and experience in working with children and/or adolescents
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of traffic safety is a required skill
- Conflict resolution or non-violent crisis intervention training are assets
- Prior experience as a crossing guard or traffic flagger are assets
This position requires the physical ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and stand/walk around for a one-hour shift.

What the District offers:
- Hours of work - 1-hour shifts (one hour before school; one hour after school)
- This position pays $27.12 per hour plus 16% in lieu of benefits
- Casual and Casual Temporary staff are eligible for employment standards sick days (ESA)
- Staff assigned to work in schools on a daily basis are eligible to participate in the District benefits plan of dental and extended health. Participation is at the employee’s own cost of premiums.
